Make Money With A News, Technology, Or Other Blog?
If you are thinking of making money with a blog by creating a website where you can post news on a specific topic (to give an example of one of the most popular topics, technology, Apple products, or the Android operating system), think for a moment before the start in the fourth.
From experience I can tell you that information sites cannot earn a lot, indeed they cannot make valid numbers to carry out a project of the type.
What is the main problem with a news site?
There is not a real “main problem”, but a series of reasons why a website that deals exclusively with news (or mainly news) will have difficulty in monetizing its own spaces, and I want to share my experiences, as always, on the pages of monetizzato.com.
1 – People are looking for news: When people are looking for news, they generally do not look at advertisements on a website. The people who follow the advertisements are very few, this is because people are interested in news or tutorials (to give practical examples, people are looking for “how to change the ringtone on an iPhone” or “what will be the characteristics of the new iPhone 13 “, in your opinion who of these two categories of people may be interested in advertisements or affiliate network/google Adsense campaigns?);

2 – Depending on the niche it will be difficult to find interesting campaigns: we remain on the “technology and smartphone” niche. As far as is concerned, it is clear that users, in principle, may be interested, fundamentally, in three types of campaigns:
- Apple products and promotions;
- Apple product accessories;
- Apps and Ringtones for Mac and Apple products;
consequently, the site will have a very specific target and those who buy an iPhone today generally keep it for at least a year or more (same thing for those who buy a MacBook, an iMac,….). If we propose the same example for the Android category, the situation is worse because:
- there are tons of Android smartphones at very low prices (this can be a pro);
- there are more free apps than paid apps (and as a result people can download the apps for free)
3 – Get ready for a very tough competition: today many internet sites talk about technology, smartphones, Apple products, and this means that to “emerge” from the tide of sites that deal with the subject you will have to work hard and try to offer something more than your “competitors”.
What does this data lead to?
At the conclusion that probably, to be able to make a technology news site monetizable, it takes a lot of visits, and possibly a group of people who dedicate themselves H24 or almost to updating the site. It is evident that the most updated sites are the most followed, so if you limit yourself to writing one or two articles a day, users will probably go to competitors who have much more insurance news.
What if I talk about other categories?
I think the problem is more or less the same, and I show you the reasons:
Earn money with a cooking blog: the people who open this kind of site are looking for recipes, advice, “how to …”, what advertising campaigns dedicated to the world of “food” can be? To date they are still few in my opinion, and, consequently, I do not know to what extent we can earn with this topic.
Earn money with a gossip blog: what are the advertisements that are users looking for news on “celebrities, models, footballers” follow? Here too, finding “relevant” ads will not be easy (especially if we plan to combine affiliate networks and pay-per-click systems.
Making money with a health blog: here the topic becomes more intricate. There are lots of products and ads on diets, health, wellness, gym,…. The problem is to build a reputation so solid that they become “opinion leaders”, people who if they talk about a product can convince users to buy it because that product is really good.
